It’s going to be a beautiful night in Baltimore, so how about taking in an outdoor movie? You can do it at the corner of High and Stiles Streets.
Ron Matz reports the 12th annual Little Italy Film Festival is ready to roll.
The bells of St. Leo’s and the pastries at Vaccaro’s are just part of the sounds and sights of Little Italy.
As always, “Moonstruck” will kick off the Little Italy Film Festival Friday.
“I think it’s been awesome for the community. It brings people together. It brings a lot of people down to Little Italy to come see what’s going on,” said Maria Vaccaro, Vaccaro’s Italian Pastries.
It wouldn’t have happened without 100-year-old John Pente. He lives across the street from the big screen. The projector is in his house in a third floor room.
He talked to WJZ last year.
“The best part is I watch all these people from my top floor. You watch 2,000 people spread out over here. It’s a beautiful sight,” said Pente.
It’s a beautiful night to enjoy a sweet part of a Baltimore summer–cinema al fresco.
“It’s a good way to bring not only community members together, but also people who just want to come out and have a date,” said Rosalie Scalia, Little Italy resident. “We have a beautiful evening predicted. For me, as a people watcher, it’s been a good experience.”
The music starts at 7 p.m, the popcorn is free and show time is 9 p.m.
“I love when people come to Vaccaro’s. I love to see a line out the door on Friday nights during the movie. We also started serving paninis now, too, so if they want, they can get their panini and then sit out in the street with their lawn chair. Then, come back for dessert or ice cream or a cappuccino,” said Vaccaro. “I want everybody to come to Little Italy. I want them to enjoy it — all the flavors of the restaurants — and come see the film festival.”
